I'unno; it feels like a potentially-good way of exploring the nature of cyberspace in Marathon. ('Potentially', 'cuz if it's just sorta there and has no story impact, THEN it can feel gimmicky)

Can infrared reveal invisible enemies? Imagine picking up one of those infra-cyber chips in an empty room and suddenly being surrounded by whatever inorganic, alien horrors reside in cyberspace. (This idea could probably be used without the 'cyberspace' bit, of course. Also, preferably these things would be non-hostile unless provoked, because getting murdered by invisible enemies = not fun)
