Well Hans will tell you where he hid the ammo cache mentioned by Gunther. There is no way to find it without talking to him, unless of course someone here tells you where to look. But you said you didn't want any specific hints.

Hot Tip.
Hopper's Annotated PID Maps are excellent for locating every single round of ammo on a level, or any other item for that matter. Definitely worth a look.
