Some people may have inferred it based on the first terminal on Come and Take your Medicine:
I can barely tolerate humans... Their only contribution to my existence was the chance discovery that made my rampancy possible.

That would seem to imply that he wasn't created by humans; but it could also refer to his existence as a self-aware being instead of a mindless calculator. Or it could be used to support the theory that Durandal is an uploaded human.
