I don't know if there's any streamlined way to do it right now, but it's basically the approach in your first post with the added step of pasting that black/white mask into the alpha channel of your colors image, and saving.
ShapeFusion can do a full export of the shapes file as BMP-24, maybe somebody can talk Tito into modifying it to add the mask as well.
