Ah. Maybe that's what happened... I saw that the landscaped were horribly grainy and figured it was using the lores versions from the Shapes file (i.e. not loading the DDS hires textures). But maybe DXTC DDS files are just too compressed for use in landscapes... though that makes me wonder how poorly it'll make the geometry textures look. : I'm downloading Alpha 2 as we speak, so I'll have a look at the textures and
Coolness, thanks. :-) : Why did you choose .sit? :( Windows users, when decompressing .sit files with StuffIt Expander, get all the original files as well as files ending in .rsrc. They can then delete all of these .rsrc files besides Map and Images, as well as the original Images, and then delete the ".rsrc" from the "EternalImages.imgA.rsrc" file's name, and have an install that should work with the Windows version of Aleph. This method has worked consistently in the past, but not when I used .zip, so I use .sit so that people like Blake can continue to easily adapt Mac releases to work on their Windows boxes. The final release will be unimap, cross-platform, and distributed in .zip files.
