Agreed. I hardly play video games at all. Never really have... I diddled around with shareware toys or friends' console cames when I was younger, and only really got into Bungie games at all because Marathon hooked me. The only newish games I own are Halo and DOA3, both of which were given to me on various birthdays (and Halo came with an XBOX to play it on - thanks Astro!). So I don't really know or much care about what the newest/hottest games coming out are, and never did.
But I follow Marathon scenarios because it's art that my friends make. I'm working on one, and was once attempting to make original games too, mostly as an art project, and of course to tell a story as well. Not "art" in the sense of "stare at it in a gallery" or even "sit back and watch it", but more in the sense of architecture, landscaping, or urban planning. It's a neat place to go and "vacation" and admire the scenery, especially since I know that someone built it all. That there's a game to play there, some mission to accomplish, is just something for me to do in this place so I'm not just standing on a street corner going "huh... city, eh?". Metaphorically speaking of course.
