: They say the third time's a charm, right ;) Keep in mind that you will never be fully satisfied with what you've created. For years I would begin to make maps, and then start thinking what I had was stupid and trash it. If I had finished most of the maps that I had begun, I would be a much better and more confident map-maker than I am now. As it is now I've only completed about 7 or 8 maps, and I've been mapmaking since Infinity came out (although I go long stretches without mapmaking). Overall, while I wouldn't say accept what you've made if it's shitty or you have just cause to dislike it, learning to make good maps takes time, and the more maps you make, the better you'll get. The first map I made for Eternal, the 8th level of the first chapter (called "I Can't Believe It's Not Total Carnage!", I think, in Mk V – it's been renamed in Eternal X), I barely managed to make myself finish. I started thinking certain things were stupid and that the parts of the level didn't fit together well – it was fun, but I thought it was dumb. I only went ahead with it because the deadline was looming and I knew I wouldn't be able to make and complete a new map in time. Then when Mk I was released I was really surprised to find that lots of people, including Steve and I believe John Sumner, found it to be the best or one of the best in the scenario. That's not to say that I created something that others liked and that I didn't. With every map I've ever made I've started thinking it sucked, and most of the time I stopped working on the map entirely because of it. I actually rather like the level I made now, and that's not because it's been praised by others. Of course I always cringe when I walk through areas that I know I rushed or see place where I could've done something better, but that's all part of mapmaking. You learn from your mistakes. This has been a very nice long rant, so I'm going to end it. I'm not implying that you continually abandon maps or anything, I just thought I could be helpful.
