	In Response To: I'd love to help. (MrHen) Well... there's always the possibility of a book where you choose the ending. I don't have too much experience with these however, and I know the page turning has always been annoying + you never really get to choose anything that hasn't already been given to you to choose... this would tie in well with the whole marine theme though, and marathon in general.. was he really free to do whatever he wanted? The best help is just ideas and writing. Let me know what strikes you as interesting. : I would love to help. You've : alluded to this so I'm sure you're aware of a lot of the problems : contained within a medium change like this. The terminals are a : interesting and something to think about. But the major worry I have is : that it will loose the one thing that I loved about Marathon: the story : was written so you could feel it happening to you. : Everything in Marathon is first person. The amazing beauty of the game, to : me, is not that it is a wonderful First Person Shooter but that the story : is one of the few (in my limited literary knowledge) that is an : interactive First Person Story. The events and the characters are : interacting with you . : HALO did not have the same feel, and that is why I had a hard time getting : into the story. HALO was a clash between first person/third person. The : action was all first person, the story was not. HALO was a fun game, but : the story was on par with a good sci-fi movie that had to be interrupted : all the time. The HALO story would entertain me more as a movie. : In Marathon the terminals allowed Durandal or Leela to talk directly to you. : There was no character descriptions of the Marine, no pictures of him. You : never heard his voice and he was never called a name. There was nothing to : pull you away from immersing yourself in the world. : Transferring this to a book would be extremely difficult. If not impossible. : I haven't read nearly enough books and I don't study writing or language : so I don't know if it has ever been done. In my mind, the first decision : that would have to be made is to decide how to tell the story. : Everything else, all the facts and the events that take place, are basically : done. They can be found here and within the avid fans of the game and : story. They aren't entirely complete yet, but the Story Page is a perfect : place to start. : So I guess I'm asking you, how are you going to convey all of this knowledge? : In any case, I'm more than willing to help.
