Cortana was only pitted against an AI at one point in the story (unless there was another time I didn't know about in Halo 2) It was when she was on the covenant ship and the other AI was basically hiding in an unknown process in the ship. That was the only reason she had to struggle to defeat him, as soon as she found him out she ripped him to pieces. I'm not sure, but I wouldn't expect Durandal to be hiding, maybe hidden but that wouldn't work for any kind of offense. I think it would depend on who was faster, either that or the usefulness of their hardware. Cortana might have a dissadvantage having filled herself up with all the data from the halo. But hacking was what she was built for. The reason I would say Durandal is because he could physically battle cortana, whereas cortana doesn't seem to be able to control as much hardware. If it were a hacking battle, cortana might win, but Durandal would also have a good chance due to Cortana's weighed-down memory.
