In Response To: Re: Let's overanalyze the image itself (ReconN) Man, it's amazing what people are reading into this shot. :) Okay, here's where I have a problem. Folks seem to think that the translucent screen (with all the numbers on it) and the stone below it are connected. They're using this assumption to decide which side of the glass Cortana is on. I really, really think they're not. If you look at recent video footage (say, the Staten/O'Donnell discussion video), you'll see that that brownish stone stuff is what the walls of the PoA look like. So what you're seeing at the bottom is what's below the window, at the back of the picture. "But wait!" you cry. "It's not the same stuff as that checkered wall above - the stuff behind the glass itself!" The GLASS has an embedded grid pattern on it - you're seeing THAT overlaying the wall, making the stuff BEHIND the wall look different from the bottom stuff. The screen itself is free-standing - the blue border at the bottom is just how light reflects through the thickness. You're on one side of the glass... most of the numbers and shapes are on the glass itself... and Cortana is behind it, talking to you. (She's a friggin' AI - it shouldn't be hard for her to read inverted text - think of her as a weathergirl, pointing out that new low front moving in.) The small diagram behind her hip is on the back wall, next to the window - far enough back that you can't see it through her body. The only part I can't understand, with this analysis, are those two screens at the bottom. They're tilted, presumably for easy reading. However, the text at the top is readable, not reversed... which means they're tilted DOWN. Is this whole thing way over your head? |
