In Response To: Re: Let's overanalyze the image itself (Dispatcher) I've been studying it closely, and I think you're right about depth. Those two diagonal screens at the bottom right of the image I think are on either side of a pillar behind the screen. They're angled downwards a bit, I guess to be better seen from below. Only problem is the fainter screen above them (by "cortana's hip") is then fairly unreadable from any position that the other two might be seen from, since it appears to be on the same screen. It seems to me that it's some kind of bridge or command room, or at the least an observation/informational room. On the phone number thing, it could easily have more digits that are cut of at the edge of the image.. The other numbers (on the triangles that I've speculated are ships) don't seem to be entirely random. Notice the 643 tendancies. The positions of the numbers could mean something (thus making the one that begins with 0 make sense.. maybe it's an escape pod, and is marked by the 0 as being one.. the 6 in the beginning position might signify combat ships.. pure speculation) Also on depth, I think that [the planet] Itself takes up most of the width of the image, and you can see the beginning of the daylight side of it on the left side of the pic. As for the hologram just drawing attention.. I don't like that either.. Cortana could simply paint a big red arrow on the display, or say to someone "hey, look here." Having a hologram ape out things just seems too.. fluffy. Perhaps she's already downloaded into the "credit-card sized device" that you carry her in. But in that case I think that interfacing with a hologram would be too crude for an AI, when I'm sure some sort of wireless protocol would work more efficiently. Maybe cortana has hundreds of avatars canvasing the ship. Maybe (again pulling from Excession) the avatar(s) is/are semi-self-sentient.. in which case looking at a board (although still on the wrong side of it) would make some sense. Maybe I should go over to r.net for more discussion. |
