Yeah... sometimes you can shoehorn in some Halo here, like when there's a cross-over or reference to Marathon in it, but most of the time you're better off at HBO.
By the way, I started replaying Halo 2 again last night (just got the HD plugin for Xbox... gosh, it's purty) and right near the beginning there's another reference. Just after you return to 1st person POV from the "I need a weapon" scene, one trooper started to run past and then stopped. He turned, faced, and said: "Thank God, it's you!"
If I'd had a weapon, that'd be an ex-BoB.
