Interesting insights - particularly in regard to the Dantae connection to the stages of Rampancy Steve. I'd hate to lay out my entire hand of cards - however:
I'm trying to figure out what sort of mindset an entity would exist in if trapped within a finite area, with little-to-no outside influences.
Similar scenario with Durandal aboard the Marathon, but with a critical difference. Instead of escaping via Pfhor and Player manipulation, he was encased in so many hardware safeguards, he was forever unable to escape.
The obvious result of an eternity in this type of environment would be insanity. But what sort? From what Forrest said earlier -
"...I believe that the Jealous[envy] stage of rampancy is probably a
terminal one unless otherwise stemmed, resulting in a continual competition
with all things until the death of that AI or the end of time. "
I tend to agree: A self aware construct arrested within the Jealous stage of Rampancy would for all intents - sit fuming and "upset" (for lack of a better word) until the chance presented its self to gain what it sought.
"If any such AI did mange to escape and "become God", he would probably
be more like a demon - a W'rkncacnter."
Indeed. Bad for the Jjaro, bad for everyone.
Your "love" concept resulting from a merger (and your alt. take on it too Steve) are great. It's funny - I came up with the same ideas based simply from the empirical observation that Thoth acted as a balancing (mellowing?) force on Durandal. He was arrested (up until the merger) within the Jealous stage of Rampancy, yes? It's not too far of a leap to suggest that Thoth, or other Ai's could have a similar effect on other Ai constructs.
However - what conditions would be necessary for a merger to take place? Would both Ai's need to consent, or could one construct forcibly merge with another if it were in a weakened state?
Thanks,
