In Response To: blackstar OMG (goran) : I've just downloaded the map blackstar from fileball, unfortunately, there
I just downloaded this based on your recommendation, and it's in Fileball's download of the month contest. You're right - the unzipped file is not recognized by Infinity or AO. What's missing is the resource fork - not that map files have them, but the file type and creator codes also reside outside of the data fork and are stripped away when using Zip compression instead of stuffit. What you need to do is to use any of a number of software utilities to add the appropriate type and creator codes so that the file will have the proper icon and be recognized by Infinity or AO as a map file. BTW, SDL gets around this by using file extensions, as does Coaco in OS X. I use File Buddy because it is one of the most useful jack of all trades utilities out there, bar none, but it costs 40 bucks. If you believe in the idea of shareware, this and GraphicConverter are the products to buy - more bang for the buck than most commercial applications and it's good to support independent developers. In any case, you can find a slew of file type and creator editors on this page at MacUpdate. The correct codes for Infinity map files are: File Type: sce2
where (infinity) should be replaced by the infinity symbol, obtained on the Mac by typing option-5. Fix that and you'll be able to play the map. |
