Can you switch sides within a level?

Here's an interesting thought that could really be exploited in Marathon Nonlinear. Not even considering the possibilities of scripting in AO, M2/oo already provides the possibility of changing mission objectives within a level. If you start shooting at Bob's and kill enough of them, they will start treating you as the enemy and shoot at you. It's also possible to change the succession of levels based on successfull completion of your mission, as in Hairy Legs in Rubicon. Can these be combined to allow the player to select or switch sides during play? If so, this opens up some very interesting possibilities. For example, in a version of Converted Church populated by both Bobs and Pfhor, neither of whom considers you friend or foe, you might be albe to literally select the outcome depending on who you shoot. No need for dream sequences with this option - you can choose your destiny on the fly.
