I thought the Infinity Pfhor textures were horrifically un-Pfhor-like, and they are perhaps my least favorite set in all three games. At one point (somewhere near Thing What Kicks, IIRC) Durandal claims responsibility for the change, suggesting that it "simple screams Western Arm" or some such.
The M2 and M1 textures at least both looked very alien and organic, and though the M1 ship was generally very dark-lit, the colors used are still very "bright" in some places. Though now that I think about it, the dark-lit vs a few bright spots style is very very nice, I'll have to replicate that more in the lighting on my Pfhor levels.
