The Battle Cat is a mouser of course. Shoving the keyboard to the left with left paw over keypad and right paw on mouse:
num lock - previous weapon
/ - action key
* - automap
7 - next weapon
9 - forward
5 - sidestep left
6 - backpedal
+ - sidestep right
enter - secondary trigger
caps lock - run/walk toggle
The previous and next weapons are lifted up to allow better access to the 4 and 1 keys which is reserved for jump and crouch for other games. This setup works very well for me, but then I've used it ever since Marathon 1, on into all the other first person shooters I've played (except Halo which totally screws up the system by not allowing the + and enter keys)
