But, in Marathon 1, that goo deals damage to you even when you're just floating above it, whereas in Marathon 2, it only deals damage to you when you're in it. I'm not saying that this shows they're different kinds of goo, I'm just saying it's a gameplay difference that was never accounted for in the story. But then again, we should be used to that by now. :)
