(VikingBoyBilly) Since you can have spaces in Marathon that overlap each other without changing height, but never touch, you could say that you're moving through yet another spatial dimension, we just never specify which one. Since we can't perceive more than 3 anyway, the result is the same. If you want more than that, you'll have to go ask Miegakure.
