In Response To: Re: because this is 'thon related? (treellama) : Usually you're so good with it I forget it is an issue. well thank you. : If everyone posted his schedule and agenda for playing some simple games on
The reason why we are scheduling this (and advertising it) and what makes it different from a regular metaserver game (at least in my experience) is that this adds a bit more of social "spice" to it and has pretty good effect on the overall moral in games (and after). Plus it does create a bit of a tradition. So far i've only seen positive sides on these games. I've seen people coming back to play Marathon after years of break. People I haven't played against in ages. I do agree with you that the structure of this forum does provide some weaknesses and advertising every single meta server game here would be quite, stupid. But I see our games as a bit more. It is a planned open party, usually with a theme, and with a strong base of friends which should minimize bad moral. And so far all the people that have joined our carnage fests have liked it as far as i know. on the plus side, I believe these planned games have created a tiny little amount of sparks & activity in the community, and I don't see how that can possibly be a bad thing.
