: I keep getting line of sight errors, sometimes causing Forge to crash on me.
: Anybody know the max. # of allowable transparent polygon borders?
: I also get a few "viewing distance too large" errors. The two
: problems tend to be related (who'd a' thunkit?). Has anyone else run into
: these difficulties repeatedly, and, if so, how have you remedied the
: problems? I'd be interested in hearing about anything people have done to
: work within the parameters in Forge.
I've had this problem in a MPiD level (of all things!). In Aleph One this problem does not exist. Forge crashed on me when I stepped into a very long corridor, the solution to this was simply running backwards (so that you face the wall nearest you and the far away wall is out of your vision). Add the textures while running backwards and then spin around before you reach the other wall and you're done! If its a wide open space area you can probably follow this rule as well, just need to be a little more careful not to extend the vision too far before spinning around. This allows for the big levels in Aleph One without excessive Forge crashing! I'm sure the PiD fans would have screamed murder if I told them I cut an important corridor in half because of "viewing distances."
