Why is everyone so against this?

Admittedly, this is *defiantly* the wrong forum to ask for help creating a Half Life mod, but why all the hostility? HL2 is a kick ass game, platform bigotry and Valve’s retarded shenanigans aside.
If the PiD mod for Doom 3 was so cool, why not a Marathon mod for HL2? Just because it can’t run on a Mac is no reason to completely write it off. Even though some wont be able to play it, plenty of other people would be able to enjoy it.
That all said, converting Marathon to the HL2 engine would take a HELL of a lot of work and probably never be “done right” considering the distinct lack of good half life moders who are familiar with Marathon, much less have the love for it necessary to put all that work in.
As a side note, a simple multiplayer mod was done for the original HL a wile back and, wile incomplete, was pretty cool IMHO.
