In Response To: couple of questions (blake37)

: I'm making a map and have a few problems.

: 1) How do you make random sounds more random? I've got a thunder as a random
: sound and its just like *boom!**boom!* the whole time. very annoying, and
: you can't hear the night wind ambiant sound either.

Click on "view" scroll down to sound, random sound, from there click
on the ramdom
sound you want to change, to make it more random click on "period". You might want
to try it at around 200-250, it's up to you!

: 2) A hunter keeps apearing in this one room where I didn't put a hunter. I
: had before, but then had taken it out. This really messes up the level,
: which is this gladiator type thing where you have different monster fight
: each other, which brings me to my last question

Make sure that hunter isnt from another part of your map, perhap he found a
way to get to you, to make sure a monster stay in a specified portion of your
level click on a line, choose "monters and items impassable". If you put a hunter in a certain portion
of your level and you dont want him to leave that area then it will do the trick.
Another trick, let say that you put enforcer in a certain part and you want him to stay here then
click once on your poly and select "zone border"
When you use zone border you have to make sure to "trap" the monster inside his own area,
imagine that the enforcer is in a big square room only accessed by a platform then the poly near the platform should be labelled as zone border!

: 3) WHo came up with this idea? I know I saw someone mention it a few years
: ago or something, but I can't remeber. It was on this forum though.

I think that was Dcbob, i might be wrong...

Also, if you need more mapping help feel free to ask me on forerunners hotline, or you can
have a look at the exellent Hastur workshop guide from BattleCat website!
( and this guide was made by a native english mapper, unlike me, so you'll be able
to understand all in one look! )
