Having made dozens of transatlantic trips and a few transpacific ones, I can tell you that jetlag only gets worse with age. It generally takes the body one day to adapt to each hour of time shift, so you basically need about a week to recover from jetlag when you go to Europe from the US. Doesn't make much sense to do it for a one-week trip, now, does it? My wife used to routinely take 3 month leaves of absense and travel through Europe all summer, staying at youth hostles and living on practically nothing. This is before we met - during those years I was still working on a few university degrees - how I envy her. Bottom line - most people wait until they're old - really old - to travel and experience the world. Don't wait - it will never be easier than it is right now. |
