Hello Rampancy,
I just saw the email Steve passed on to me about your post. It seems I missed it during my usual trolling of the MSF. :)
: So what's been happening with WMAID? I remember posts on their news section
: saying that it was practically done. Now it seems that the dev team's
: pretty much started from scratch. I understand your reasons for doing so
: but I'm interested in what happened. Were the textures not up to snuff?
: Map design not all there?
WMaiD's dev team is similar to RED's - in the way that I am the only person doing it. I began it in 2002, and is still being worked on in 2005. It was not released last year because the textures were not up to snuff. That, combined with a revamp of the story caused my "final beta" to become neither final, nor a beta version.
The maps for WMaiD are ususually complex (compared to some other scenarios) which also complicated the development timeing.
What remains to be done is to rewrite, and in some cases just modify WMaiD's terminals. The completion of two additional levels, and a revamp of one texture set are also required.
That pesky thing called 'life' gets in the way of things as well. Second year university gobbles up time, but I reassure anyone interested; WMaiD is still in progress. REB is currently assisting with polishing some key levels.
: Oh, and is it possible that you could fix Rubicon's annoying bug with the
: pistols?
Which bug was that? As far as the weapons set in WMaiD goes, its new / modified weapons are very much a transitional set between M2/Infinity and Rubicons.
: One more request: I absolutely love the two terminal graphics in the
: screenshots from the dream sequences. Could you possibly put those out as
: desktop pictures? (I'm thinking they'd look especially cool
: "letterboxed").
Which?

the W'kkr released dream terminal,

the chapter screen-like shot of the outpost world,
or

the sword / sun / terminal image?
I'd happily generate desktops from my 150 - 300 dpi resolution originals of my art. One of things that is complete in WMaiD is all the terminals pictures. I'm really quite anxious to show them off when the scenario is released. :)
Also, letterboxed? I'm not unfamiliar with the phrase, but I don't grasp its meaning.
Thanks for your interest,
-Blayne Scott
