Steve, it is possible to get out of the goo and head back to the alcoves. The floor of the goo pit slopes downward. The depth in the middle of the pit is just enough to provide the player enough momentum to get out of the goo. However, the player does take damage in getting back this way. So, if the Jugg is still alive (personally I take the time to kill it), Steve's alternative way is preferred.
