In Response To: Multiple Outbreaks & Installation 04's history (Boxer [subnova]) : Here’s my question. : If there have been at least two outbreaks (including the one that occurs
[side note] I was originally referring to two previous outbreaks prior to the current one. One 'possible' that prompted Halo's construction, and the other 'possible' that prompted the previous firing of Halo. [end] But yes, your point is important. Given that Halo was apparently built to 'study and contain' the Flood, then their threat would have to be already known. How, of course, is a different matter. Perhaps the Forerunners had seen an uncontrolled Flood epidemic in another Galaxy and (jumping ahead massively here) seeded all the surrounding galaxies with 'Halos' as a last resort, should they ever manage to escape the 'infected' galaxy... : Which could therefore mean, that the Forerunner or some other highly
: So, why should a race that could so thoroughly thrash The Flood need to
As above. Maybe they have never actually beaten them at all. That perhaps is probably the most scary scenario of all... :-( : Perhaps the Forerunner stumbled upon the Halos, and being so egotistical
: Perhaps the Forerunner were merely adaptive rather than innovative just
Possibly... : Now that I’ve theorized as to why there is even a Halo, I’ll discuss
: 343GS throughout the entire game is very prideful of Halo and his
It does seem like an afterthought, yes. And a forced one too. Point well made. : Perhaps he was merely justifying the existence of The Flood to the
Not necessarily. Here's the scenario (well, as I see it): There is a Flood epidemic. The Forerunners (whether they beat the Flood or just observe the disaster from afar) build the Halos as a last line of defence. They manage to capture and quarantine some Flood spores and store them on one(?) of the Halos for study (a mistake, it would seem). An 'unknown' incident causes 343GS and another 'reclaimer' to fire Halo 04. Thousands of years later, the Covenant and Humans arrive on Halo 04 and the Flood spores are released... : But if Halo did exist prior to the first time The Flood escaped then the
Well, only if the Forerunner are actually of this galaxy. If they had seeded multiple galaxies with Halos, then they could potentially live somewhere far far away. : Now, I’m not saying that all of the Forerunner would have been wiped
: So, when 343GS says “Last time, you asked me, if it was my choice, would
Which, by his statement about viewing the impressive research facilities later (after, obviously, firing Halo), would seem so. : If that’s the case then it’s understandable why 343GS might mistake the
No problems with that. He does seem to think that it's the same individual. Or...maybe by the reference to 'you' he means 'race'. As in, why would 'the Forerunner' hesitate to do what 'the Forerunner' have already done... Hmmm... Mark |
