However, the Flood are spreading, so the : Covenant fear that once the Flood find us (which could be soon), we're : going to be taken over and used to feed the Flood and reinforce them. : There's a lot of humans to act as hosts, so we'd swell the ranks of the : Flood. We have FTL travel, so the Flood would spread rapidly once they : found us. Our extra numbers may well swing the war decisively in favour of : the Flood. : So, the Covenant have no choice, and are wiping us out so that we don't feed : the Flood. It's kind of like a firebreak, where fire fighters : intentionally set a small fire to clear an area of combustible material in : an attempt to stop a much larger fire from spreading. : Ciarán. eh, I don't think so... The Covenant is a large group of several different alien races who appear to be working together for something. If that something were to wipe out/combat the Flood, then instead of wiping us out, why not invite us to join them? Wouldn't our extra numbers help the Covenant just as well? I just don't think it's that simple.
