In Response To: Re: Good point... *spoilers* (Santiago) If anyone has read the entire hitchhikers guide to the galaxy, I would like to draw comparisons between Halo and Life the Universe and Everthing. In LEUAE an incredibly xenophobic race tries to destroy every other race in the Universe with a bomb capable of destroying every sun. This bomb was developed by an A.I. very similar to 343 Guilty Spark. Both of them try to get the protagonists of the stories to activate the mega-weapons because no one else can. Perhaps the Forerunners wanted to destroy the 25,000 lightyear territory but were killed by the Flood on Halo before they could. 343 might be using the Flood as an excuse to get the Master Chief to activate the Halo and complete the Forerunners last requests. Another theory is that the Halo is like the Sphere from the story Sphere. An object that gives the users ultimate power in order to determine if they are evolved enough to control it. At first glance the Halo story seemed a little thin but upon closer examination there are many questions that remain. |
