This last is the real question - why not clean up when they're through? I mean, wiping out life from 25,000 light years is a pretty major step to take (especially in a relatively automated system) - how could the Forerunners guarantee that THEY weren't in that 25,000 light year radius? I mean, what if they were heading back for a check on the Flood, or something? They're 3 light years out, and some big idiot in a green suit sticks that index into the board... wham! They're toast! It's sort of like a parent heading out to work, leaving his loaded shotgun on the floor next to his kid's bed. I don't get it. |
