And culture also leads to understanding of words in a context. An attractive nude female will evoke far more sexual feelings in people in North America than say in portions of Europe. *sigh* That was an example. Cortana is Cortana, to those of us who are used to Cortana. But as I said in earlier comments, waaaay back, someone who is not conditioned to Halo's content may well look at the game and the first thing they see is "o_O Naked woman!" rather than "holographic female sidekick!" or even "oh, there's a reason why she's starting to look more and more human as time goes on, because..." If someone at Bungie were to reveal that, yep, if they'd had the graphical capability, they'd have made Cortana look as realistically naked and anatomically correct as possible regardless of its rating, then my position about Cortana's character, and opinions of Halo's content and/or design decisions might change. : I think you left out a few words here, I think I know what you're trying to
I re-read it, and didn't leave any words out. I didn't accidentally any word. : Is this one of those lines? For a number of reasons, yes, I believe it to be. : If they're so minute, why not put them in, and how do we know it was even on
I would be shocked if no one at 343 who looked at Cortana's design didn't think anything about her appearance would be seen as increased sexualization of her character. At all. Dare I say that would be impossible. Look, Cortana's appearance in Halo 4 has been debating since she was first revealed... I don't really see a point in continuing the debate further here. I've made my point - she's far more sexualized visually in Halo 4 than in previous games, depending on who you ask, which can make it more difficult to rave about the game to non-players without potentially offending them or appearing to condone something they may find offensive. That's not a flat statement of what is or is not offensive, only a relative statement from my experience about the ability to be a public and visible fan of the game as a whole. Nor does it reduce how much of a fan of the game I am.
