Totally agree with you, I think the music volume is just too low. It's one of the reasons that people tend to underestimate the music of the game. The music in Halo 4 is totally forgettable because in many circumstances you totally miss it.

Clearly Davidge isn't Marty, but who is. At the very least Davidge did a good job with "mood" music and simply didn't punch it home like Marty did with some of the epic moments.
