Yeah, and sometimes they simply get it wrong.

Also, custom EQs are very common with music listening (arguably, most listening devices apply their own EQ due to reproduction deficiencies) and fan remixing is also very common. Mixing in the purest sense of the word: volume of elements, EQ, speed, pitch, misc. effects, etc.
