As for mores, I just : figured everyone the Chief and Cortana met knew different AIs have : different appearances and was mature enough to just go with it. Right, the way I see it, Cortana's "nudeness" likely had narrative implications for her character, reflective of her history and personality and whatnot (just as with the attire selected by other Smart AIs)... but if running with that idea through to Halo 4, it's very clear it's not simply a matter of 'female form', but Halo 4's depiction of her implies she really is aiming for pure realistic nakedness, rather than just female form (dare I say, likely only limited by video game rating). There certainly is a clear progression from Halo 1 to 4, but 4 is the most realistic, least obfuscated, female figure Cortana has employed. There is no doubt about that. Technologically speaking, it could be chalked up to increased capabilities of the graphics engine, but even so, Cortana could still have appeared more catsuit-like and/or modest in this iteration and still have presented a very classic Cortana character. I'm with rockslider on this... Ever since I first saw Cortana's depiction with Halo 4, my first thought was holycrap, this is a naked woman (as opposed to cat-woman-esque attire); it's going to be hard to rave about Halo 4 in "family friendly" environments (ie, with kids, and parents who are conscious of this sort of visual content)... yes, Halo 4 is M, but previously, Halo was more of an alien FPS with a holographic portrayal of a virtual woman, than "blam here's a bright blue almost-naked anatomically enhanced woman visually presenting herself to you most of the way". It's not that she's unpleasant to see in the game - far from it - but for me, it was an unexpected attention to detail for a character who suddenly seemed to pop out of her shell, compared to previous game installments. Plus, I think with all the rising commentaries regarding female portrayal in video games as sex objects, this stood out as something that would sour Halo in the eyes of many out there; sure she's strong and independent and intelligent and powerful and all, but did she have to become a veritable sexy human woman where it really wasn't necessary from a player point of view? It just went against her developed character to date for me, is all. *shrug* YMMV.
