For those still interested in seeing my ship... | |

In Response To: Visualizing the Halo Universe: Round 2 (Postmortem) I tried doing some different mockups, but none of them looked quite right so I'm just going to stick with my initial sketches to get my idea across. I'm not as talented as the rest of you guys. :)
I wanted to take this ship,
and do something with it to make the Covenant equivalent of the Nebulon B Frigate from Empire Strikes Back.
I started with this:
However, as I was doodling, I remembered the Kig-Yar and how we haven't seen any of their ships yet. I thought the general shape of this ship looked like Kig-Yar design to me. I also realized that this ship design contains a surprising weak point, in the form of that long bit towards the rear of the ship. Then I thought, well what if that's intentional? What if this back portion was a Kig-Yar craft designed exclusively to dock with destabilized ships and utilize their powers while commanding them from a safer distance?
I picture the inside of this long tube to be 0 G, with the Jackals having to float back and forth, bumping into one another in the cramped quarters. Because this particular vessel was so damaged, I also decided to make the portion on top their impulse drive. A little makeshift external attachment that magnetically clamps on to any ship, allowing the damaged ships limited movement. So the Remote Command Bridge would house the slipspace drive, and the dorsal attachment would replace the missing impulse drives. In this way, you have a functional, if severely limited ship, that stands as a testament to Jackal ingenuity and ability to make the best out of the worst scenarios that the Elites, Brutes, and Prophets throw at them.
