There are 7 actions that need to be accessible while aiming: shoot, melee, grenade, jump, crouch, zoom, AA. Crouch doesn't need aiming but moving it from one of the main buttons makes crouch-jumping difficult. There are only 6 buttons that can be reached by your fingers in the default positions. Every control scheme then, by definition, must sacrifice one of these actions. Notice I didn't even include reload/action in there - that's why it's been demoted to a face button. Otherwise, we'd have to sacrifice the accessibility of TWO actions. : Speaking of options, in your opinion, what's the best, new control scheme? I played bumper jumper in Halo 3. Once we moved melee to RB in default, I switched to that and never looked back. My jumping abilities have suffered a bit, but evade and jetpack are my two favorite AAs and having them on LB is awesome - and my melee button hasn't moved. Some people here actually play default most of the time, but switch to bumper jumper in gametypes where the only AA is sprint. I will note that it is far easier adjusting to the new default than it is going from Reach back to Halo 3. Because of Halo's history and playing other shooters (where almost all of them have reload on X), it's very easy to get used to that change again.
