In Response To: Re: Stuff I'd like to see answered: (scarab) It seems that a lot of people think the Forerunner first observed us as early humans (the "cavemen"). Maybe this was mentioned in the Terminals, I'm not sure. However, I have another idea: What if the Forerunner saw us when we were civilized and had become technologically advanced (at a time when civilization was developing and technology was increasing at an ever faster pace)? This could make sense. 100,000 years ago we know the Forerunner brought back species to the Ark for safe-keeping for the Conservation Measure during the war with the Flood. Clearly, they would have brought back some humans (as is mentioned in the Terminals, I believe). They then activated the rings, destroying all sentient life of sufficient biomass, including humans still on Earth and elsewhere. That means that nearly all humanity perished, except for the few on the Ark. It was at this time that the Forerunner disappeared. The Ark then re-transported (through the Portal) the few Humans back to Earth where they were to once again start humanity. Over the following 100,000 years civilization and technology once again grew and we arrive at the 26th century. Therefore the Forerunner saw us when we were thinking, curious humans with civilization, technology, and hope, instead of nomadic cannibals with spears. Does this seem feasible? I hope this made sense!
