In Response To: Re: Stuff I'd like to see answered: (scarab) : http://forums.bungie.org/halo/archive28.pl?read=850174 : From the Iris servers, the terminals, the web comic, ??? Now I remember reading that. :) However, I'm a bit confused because it seems that you are contradicting yourself. In your post above you said that "We were found at the last minute, not long before the array activation. There was no protracted period of observation and it appeared that they made their decision on us very quickly." I'm assuming the "decision" you refer to was the decision to make humanity the reclaimers, since you were responding to my previous post about reclaimers. Okay, good. However, in the old post you linked me to, you discuss how humans aren't the reclaimers but that we *are* Forerunner. Those are the two contradicting ideas. The other way I could look at it is that you linked me to the old post to show me the evidence that I asked about. In that case, there is no contradiction. I'll assume you meant it this way, unless you tell me otherwise. Moving on... After reading your old post, I do remember reading those selections from the Terminals (among others). So, yes, we were found later by the Forerunner. However, that doesn't say anything about the state that we were in. Suppose we had civilization and technology. It would definitely make the "reclaimer" determination much easier to make. Additionally, no time-frame is given for our "observation". We know the war was 300 years (a long time). In that time the Librarian spent a large amount of time at each "stop" (planet, etc.) cataloging everything. What if the Librarian spent a few years on Earth? I certainly wouldn't put it past her (it). I would say that a few years (even a few months) is probably more than enough to determine if humanity should be the reclaimers. Another thought: what if the Forerunners continued their "observation" of us while we were on the Ark up until the firing of the rings (and their disappearance)? That would additionally provide more time to see if we should be reclaimers. *sigh* Good ideas! I like this kind of discussion. ElusiveEagle
