In Response To: Greg Bear writing halo novels about Forerunners (opog) : I don't post here very often, but I thought that some people here would be : interested in this. This morning I found a mention that Greg Bear was : writing a trilogy of Halo Novels about the Forerunners. I dug around a bit : more and found an announcement on the website of his agent. Wowsers! This has me extremely excited. I can't believe they are actually making a "Forerunner Trilogy" WOWOWOW! :D:D:D Here's some stuff I'd like to see answered: -The relationship between humanity and the Forerunners. Every new product to come out complicates this ten fold. Guilty Spark says we ARE Forerunner, so does Mendicant Bias in the dreadnaught, but the Terminals say we aren't... Frankly, I just want to see a DIRECT, concrete and definitive explanation and clarification of the exact relationship. Are we the same- genetic ancestors? -Secondly, I want to see how the Flood survived the activation of the array. I know there are a million theories on this, but it'd be nice to know why the Array didn't totally exterminate the Flood, like you'd expect for this grand genocide scheme. -I'd like to know why Flood were stored on the Halo rings as well. That's pretty weird. -And finally, I'd LIKE to know, but it isn't essential, how the rings work. This might tie in with the other questions. But, throughout all this, I'd like them to keep the intrigue of the Forerunners. It's very important they don't seem "too human"- it just TOTALLY breaks my immersion when I read about the Regret smoking and drinking - while potentially very plausible, it seems WAY TOO HUMAN to have an evil alien indulging in so-very-human vices. I mean, I do trust MS and Greg Bear on this. I have my perfect idea of what it would and wouldn't answer, but I am concerned they might reveal too much and make the Forerunners too "relatable". I like to imagine what things are like, but show me every detail and you lose that.
