In Response To: The halo story...and wheres its coming from (Omar) It's been fairly well-known for years that Halo was inspired mostly by a very long list of SF novels, primarily Starhammer, Ringworld, Starship Troopers, and the Mote series. Also the Alien series of movies is obviously a very heavy influence as well. In fact, the Vang were lifted almost completely out of Starhammer and slapped into Halo and called the Flood. There are a few differences between the two species, but not many. I really think pinning most of it on Starcraft is a stretch. There may be some influence, none has been very apparent to me over the years, but it may be there. Besides, the Starcraft universe is itself influenced by Starship Troopers to a ridiculous degree. I would hardly count any similarities between it and Halo as any kind of indictment. ~Ma1
