(Jillybean) : Alright. : *headdesk* Yeah, the Supreme Commander isn't named at all, but the different title from The Flood does make it a blow against the Arbiter = Orna 'Fulsamme camp. Which is the theory I follow pretty much thanks to your fanfics I must admit. The Priestess and the Warrior is in my humble opinion, the best Halo fanfic out there. That said, there was a 'discussion' (well, more like a little argument that got just a little hostile, aheh) a couple of weeks ago that left a very tenuous possibility that, at least in human terms, it is naval tradition to refer to the Commanding Officer of a ship as its Captain, regardless of their actual rank. Not strictly to address them as Captain, which does happen in The Flood and is another blow, but it is also a naval term rather than just a military rank with a distinct difference between them. Or ofcourse, the HGN could just show a little revision since The Flood. Like Bungie said in the opening text to Breaking Quarantine, one of the jobs of the HGN was "to carve in stone certain events from the extended universe that deviated from our original vision of the story."
On the plus side, the HGN does make it more likely that the Elite in First Strike is not the future Arbiter, since that battle apparently took place on a different ship. For whatever reason we have two flagships around Halo now in the Ascendant Justice and now also The Seeker of Truth. | |
