(reprobate) : Bry hit the nail on the head with the ranking thing. : One thing that has always bugged me about Elites (though I love them SO), is : how their rank structure is. What rank is an "Ultra"? Is it : above or below gold armored Elites? How does one become a gold armored : Elite? : I guess if we go according to the Halo Graphic Novel, if the Supreme : Commander is currently a gold armored Elite (even though he's wearing : fluffy purple robes), and the "Ultra" whom I guess is the Elite : SpecOps Commander, then the golds are above the Ultras. Are the Ultras : even the ones in the white armor, or can there be black Ultras? Blue - Lt. or Captain Red - Major silver - Lt. Colonel Gold - Colonel/naval Captain The colors aren't really ranks as much as they are indiction of experiance and duties. Consider for a moment how many gold elites you encounter in Halo 1, about 4 or so, and they only use the energy sword. These guys are major bad news up close, and seemed to have choosen to kill you in the most brutal and 'honorable' way. It kinda goes back to something from The Professional, that the sniper rifle is for beginners, professionals will kill their targets with knives or even their hands. And to be a Ship Master, one mu literally have killed thousands of enemies. Honor and Valor Gryphon
