While I'm of the opinion that this puzzle does _not_ require a Marathon knowledge base, or maybe even a Bungie knowledge base in general, I really like the idea that maybe "Elle" isn't a person, but maybe a thing, like a vehicle. A train of some kind would definitely make sense. Only thing is, what about the foreman? A "foreman" might seem a bit out of place at a train/subway station.
