In the beginning I watched their videos as well, to refresh my memory.
But there were some things, in terms of level design and enemy placement, that I just needed to see while I was in pilot's seat. I've replayed most of the game on Kindergarten twice (and a few levels on normal to get all the monster spawns) since I started my summary.
The ending to Converted Church... may be one of the most rewarding results of playing it through myself.
