: Admittedly, while that wasn't the route I went down with the Jjaro, that does
: make a lot of sense.
: On that note--I'm not sure exactly how Durandal and Thoth's merging is
: carried out in-game, but I'm pretty certain that it's one thing that led
: to me headcanon-ing the Security Officer as a hacker/programming expert.
: He'd have to be, if he successfully merged a human-coded AI with a
: Jjaro-made one.
Take the best, most highly skilled hacker/programmer in the world, give them binary copies (no source) of MS Word for Windows and Apple Pages for Mac, and say "Hey, merge these." See what kind of response you get. And those two are even written for the same processor.
Now consider that Durandal is way more complex than MS Word, that the two theoretically shouldn't share any hardware *or* software characteristics, and that the SO doesn't have like 30 years to work on it. It just doesn't make sense unless these AIs have a common origin and were designed to be pluggable.
