Dude, dude, dude, DUDE, dude, dude... and your mom!
Many of us have that bug. Many of us dreamed of a Marathon Prequel. You've got a several hundred fertile years before the Marathon was launched. Traxus. Misriah. (You know, fragments of a Sleeping God likely landed on Mars just like meteor debris from strikes on Earth end up on Mars, too.)
My own pet theory is that it takes a planetary-scale AI to program a battleroid (lots and lots and lots of fiddly brain connections to map and fix), but you need a rampant planetary scale AI to make a sentient, self-aware cyborg.
As Mr. White said, "Rampancy puts the PANCY in something, something, something; I forgot what it was 'cause this tube in my head is leaking, leaking out into the waves the waves."
