65 megs isn't the point. Or the problem. As I've said before, we've received movies as large as 2 gigs in the past. And we're happy to reencode them. But it takes time. On my Dual 1GHz G4, Cleaner 6 took half an hour to crunch through your movie - with no sound. (I used something else for sound encoding, because I've never been really happy with Cleaner's sound abilities.) It needed tweaking - which meant another run, and another half-hour of encoding. This is really irrelevant stuff; it happens in the background, it doesn't affect what else I can do with the machine. But I can't make it go faster. It HAS to happen. In this case, I wasn't able to bring your .mov to a filesize that approached Lion's mpeg's filesize and keep quality as high as his was. Because of this, I'm going to use his mpeg, rather than your .mov. I appreciate the effort you went to - but I can't use it, this time. Sorry. Once again: The problem is NOT how long it takes - the problem is what people seem to EXPECT. This time it's Ross - but others have been just as impatient in the past. Stuff takes time, and HBO is NOT the only thing in my life. : ... 4AM... that's early! Yes. : Though Ross is another timezone... that was not the point. No. I'd be as angry if he submitted the file at 9:30 am, and then wondered publicly where it was if I hadn't posted it by 4 in the afternoon. HBO happens when I have breaks in my real life. That I manage to find several hours worth of breaks every single day shouldn't make ANYONE think they're entitled to instant (or nearly instant) service - I do what I can, and I don't hold work back because I'm lazy. If it's not posted, it's because I HAVEN'T HAD TIME TO POST IT, and mentioning how long it's taking, even in a joking manner, in a public forum, is a really sure-fire way to piss me off. And that's that. | |
