In Response To: Re: HALO the movie (carrim) : It will never happen because the movie would NOT be good, before you flame
Just for the hell of it I'm going to play devil's advocate and argue against you. ^_^ : First, think of a game like Resident Evil (which there is a movie coming out
And to get things started I will go completely off-topic: the Resident Evil movie looks pretty cool, though it looks like there aren't enough zombies in it based on the trailer. And a zombie movie without zombies will be kind of a let down. : There is no way in hell that a movie would be able to convey the insane
: Now, the humans vs. Covenant would be simple enough to get across but the
Though Halo has a lot of depth and backstory to it, the storyline is still pretty easy to get. An alien race has decided that humans need to be exterminated (standard sci-fi idea), and has started destroying our colony worlds. Fortunately, mankind has been developing super soldiers for just such an occasion and has been deploying the Spartans against the Covenant in land battles. Unfortunately, the Covenant usually wins space battles due to their superior technology, and just as we were starting to win a few battles the Covenant take Reach, our most important colony. The Pillar of Autumn manages to escape with the last surviving Spartan and makes a random jump (per protocol) and discovers a gigantic ring. That backstory can easily be told in scrolling text at the beginning of the movie. In fact, showing the last few minutes of the Reach battle would explain a lot and get the audience pumped up. The rest of Halo is pretty standard as well. John rounds up the survivors and coordinates a guerrilla war against the Covenant. They find out it was built by another alien race to observe a fourth alien race. The Flood do bad things. John barely escapes. Halo goes boom. Audience cheers. Producers start work on sequel. In a perfect world we'd get three Halo movies. Movie 1: Fall of Reach. Movie 2: Halo. Movie 3: Covenant Die, Humanity Has Giant Picnic on Covenant Homeworld. One can dream right? ^_^ - Bachus "Please, for the love of god, give us a Halo sequel." |
