Things that you pass when you're going the right way (these might not be in the right order, but they're all there):

-A pile of those purple Covenant things you can jump up to reach a ledge with a broken energy bridge.

-The shotgun, and then nearby a sort of "laboratory" room with long thingies with electric sparks in them. Go through this room.

-An elevator that goes further down.
