Thats not very encouraging, how can you talk about something you don't own? : I have seen halo in a store and played it a bit, and all my worst fears about : the porting onto xbox has proven true. What were your worst fears again? : -This ichi wichti darn little joynubbles are worth shttt to aim. Instead of : aiming you run from side to side to get some shots onto your enemy, thus : going out of cover. Heres a pointer, use both joysticks. One for general movement & dodgeing, one for aiming. After 1+hr's of gameplay, it becomes really second nature > I'd rate it nearly equal to a keyboard- mouse config, it just takes some learning. : -The graphics are ok, but that is it. It looks like goldeneye on N-64 or : Turok. Get your eyes checked. Maybe it was the bad lighting & glare in the store, or maybe the screen was too small. I dont remember realistic water in turok...nor reflective metal, lens flare, volumetric fog, stretching textures etc. : Even Halflife looks better if the level designer had a good day. And : everytime I was in the menu, I did though about where the resolution is : fixed. REAAALY. Please, show me. : +This darn Interleaced format, wtf is that for s shit, every vertical deail : is a stairway to heaven and all the horizontal details are smooth out. Aliasing? After 48hrs+ gameplay I have yet to see any 'jaggies', seems the anti-ailiasing is keeping up.... : -What about steering the darn warthog, this thingy slides around like shit. : You have by no means ANY grip on the ground. I mean, it's not ice we are : driving on, its rock or grass. Actually, you do drive on ice and its a totally different experience. The Hog seems real enough to me; you obviously haven't driven off-road at 40-60 mph recently (just watch some ESPN mud racing). Once you put some time into it, the 'sliding' effect of the Hog becomes a hilarious weapon (360 fishtail in a group of enemies) But you didn't really play the game with an open mind, did you? : +If you are in small places with the warthog, and the camera collides with a : wall, it starts roating around the warthog, thus setting the steering : orientation everytime it passes 180 degree and making the warthog nearly : unsteerable. Never had the camera change the steering on its own. Although I did have a minor problem with the camera in cramped areas with the jeep (I.E. the jeep filled the room and the camera had nowhere else to go). : +wtf am I steering at all. Whatever it is, it's not the wheels, because they : do what they want. I have on no joynubble on this darn pad any real : controll over the wheels. Have you ever tried to drive a car by pointing : the finger of your driving blind friend into the right direction, normaly : sucidie command!!! Maybe your problem was that one joy controls the jeep movement, and the other controls the steering & relative camera. : -Outdoor levels, what outdoor levels? I have seen em on screenshots, but they : seem to have vanished. You are always at the floor of valeys. Between : hills, between buildings. NOWHERE is the slightest outdoor level. those : are all clssical hand designed levels, as a halflife had em. Nowhere you : stand in front an enormous landscape and you have the "boah" : effect. Always you have a rock, a hill a sea or anything else blocking you : from going to far away. I liked the outdoor environments just fine, they weren't infinite, but they were beautiful & well made. I certainly felt outside... : +The figher is only flown in complete indoor areas. What is this thing, a : building drone. I have read that it is THE ground atack figher in Halo, : but it seems that everybody else can fly it to wherever he wants to, but : not you. True, it would have been nice to have some larger environments to fly in. I could still have fun, but i wanted to be more free to explore. Maybe an "explore in awe" mode should have been included so that the outdoor levels could be experienced from a diff perspective. : -Jeese, this nanoguy can kick a jeep, and the jeep flys trough the air. For : what do I have a weapon then. And why is this nanodude only jumping 20cm : high. : +He jumps, but seems to stay a bit at the highest pos, so everybody can shoot : this jumping duck. Who's Jeese? The MC never kicks the jeep, and you need weapons to kill things. He only jumps so high because it's hard to have torque & speed at the same time. As for the 'stay a bit at highest pos', haven't you jumped recently? -Wtf, If I launch a rocket 2m away from me in the ground, I am still alive : but the enemy tank not??? You are mis-judging distances, or is there a ruler in the game.... : So, as far as this the critics. Now some prohecys. You are not a prophet, are you? : -Halo wont come to pc. Since when do you work at Bungie? : -If it does it anyway, it will be shit Reason: From where should they stomp : out a ready pc engine now? : The stopped developing the pc engine two years ago, when they realized that : the pc engine where incompatilbe with the xbox engine. Huh. Maybe they stoped the PC engine design because the XBOX engine IS compatible! The XBOX is windows based... : -Even if they get the carve with the engine, the whole story and content is : nothing a pc gamer will be satisfied with. Prehaps story-line elements were removed to satisfy the console gamer, and will be reverted in the PC version... : -Even if they get the carve with the story and the content, there is still : some lack of empty promises they made, and everybody will be dissapionted : when these features miss. Hopefully not. I really did want to use those other weapons & vehicals. : -Even if they manage to get some of the realy good features back in the game, : they have to develop new netcode after the game is finished. This is : nearly impossilbe, and will end up like flashpoint. Nothing is impossible. And since when do YOU design games? : -Even if they manage to get all this more or less right, then the games needs : a ton of polishing till it can get on pc, or it will end up like tribes2. I liked Tribes 2. : As a guess I think for all that they need another 2 years. : Because they do not have this time, they will do a 1:1 port, or nothing. : That's it. 1:1 port is shit, and will disapoint mostly everybody, : developers and gamers. And not is also shit. So Halo is screwed anyway. It will surely dissapoint you when all your assumptions & predictions go to shit. "I am a genius. HAhaheeheeha!"
